Throughout October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Efor’s employees united around a cause especially close to our hearts: raising awareness for breast cancer screening and supporting research.
Because health is at the core of our work, this campaign was far more than a symbolic action—it was a collective and concrete commitment led by our teams through numerous solidarity and sporting initiatives.
What is Breast Cancer Awareness Month?
Breast Cancer Awareness Month originated in the United States in the early 1980s, organized by major breast cancer charities to promote early detection and support research. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation was created in the early 1990s by Evelyn Lauder, daughter-in-law of Estée Lauder’s founder, with a mission to fund breast cancer research and raise awareness about early screening. The iconic pink ribbon was introduced in 1992 as a symbol of hope and mobilization.
October became closely identified with breast cancer awareness starting in 1992 in the U.S., and the campaign was brought to France in 1994 by Estée Lauder and Marie Claire magazine, which founded the association “Le cancer du sein, parlons-en!”. Each year, the aim remains to inform, raise awareness, and encourage women to get screened early to increase their chances of recovery.
Team initiatives
Efor’s teams have brought this collective mobilization to life through various actions nationwide. Teams in Lyon and Aix-en-Provence participated in La Scintillante, organized by the Léon Bérard Center, and Odyssea Cannes, two iconic solidarity runs whose proceeds actively support cancer research.
Our CSR team organized webinars to educate and raise awareness about breast cancer screening, share best practices, and support discussions on returning to work after illness, addressing important public health topics with empathy and solidarity.
In Normandy, some employees took part in a rugby initiation with EAC Rugby, combining teamwork, sport, and commitment. Our offices also held a pink day as a visible symbol of unity and support.
Finally, teams participated in the Connected Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge organized by the CRCDC SUD Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Through walking and running, every step counted towards promoting screening and prevention.
Together, making a difference
At Efor, we believe that every action, no matter how simple, helps raise awareness and support those affected by breast cancer. Early detection gives life another chance. Talking about it, raising awareness, is already taking action.
A huge thank you to all the colleagues who took part in these initiatives and made this Breast Cancer Awareness Month a true moment of sharing and solidarity.
